A retrospective of ACTPAC in 2024
By the end of 2024, the ACTPAC project will have successfully completed its first year since its launch on January 1, 2024.
A total of seven Ph.D. students or postdoctoral researchers have been employed full-time by the ACTPAC project at different starting dates. These researchers are distributed across five academic partner institutions: Utrecht University, Aarhus University, the University of Münster, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), and the University of Groningen.
The key milestones of the ACTPAC timeline are as follows:
Regarding project management, in addition to the General Assembly, which includes at least one representative from each beneficiary and meets annually, and the Executive Board, which holds meetings every two months, the ACTPAC project has also established a Monthly Project Update meeting. This event serves as an excellent platform for young scientists to exchange knowledge, share insights, and provide guidance on methodology development and scientific advancements.
M&S and Aarhus University have worked together to define the data management approach and system, and the dissemination plan.
So far, the five R&D work packages have made significant progress, including the establishment of credited analysis and characterization methods, the discovery of new enzymes, the redirection of metabolic pathways, the development of catalyst complexes, and the innovation of polymerization systems. This progress is reflected in the timely submission of a total of seven deliverables.
As the saying goes, “Well begun is half done”. The ACTPAC management team looks forward to achieving key milestone outcomes in 2025, whether in the development of genotypes for cell and microbe conversion systems or prototypes of catalysts and primary polymer products.
